BRAVAL is a multi-municipal company undertaking the recovery and treatment of solid waste in the Lower Cávado. In 1996, by Decree-Law no. 117/96, one multi-municipal system of sorting was created with selective collection, recovery and treatment of municipal solid waste in the Lower Cávado, integrating the municipalities of Braga, Póvoa de Varzim and Vieira do Minho.
The expansion of this systems occur in 1999 and covers the municipalities of Braga, Vila Verde and Terras de Bouro, extinguishing a multi-municipal system of triage, recovery and treatment of municipal solid waste of Cávado-Homem.
Braval's landfill currently receives waste from six municipalities: Braga, Póvoa de Varzim, Vieira do Minho, Amares Vila Verde and Terras de Bouro. ABB holds an indirect interest of 38.71% in Braval society - Recovery and treatment of waste, SA
